Trauma is a psychological response to an intense experience of danger and disconnection.

Many different situations can result in a trauma response, including car accidents, being the victim of or witnessing a crime, prolonged workplace conflict, distressing medical procedures, and experiencing abuse (physical, sexual, verbal, and/or emotional).

Symptoms of Trauma (PTSD)

  • Memories of the trauma event that keep coming back
  • Recurring dreams that are related to the event
  • Flashbacks, where it feels as though the event is happening again (even if you know it isn't)
  • Emotional distress (fear, panic, anger, etc.) and physical reactions (shaking, heart racing, etc.) when exposed to reminders of the event
  • Avoidance of reminders that trigger distres
  • Difficulty remembering aspects of the event
  • Negative beliefs about yourself/others/the world
  • Unfairly blaming yourself/others for what happened
  • Persistent distressing emotions (fear, anger, guilt, shame, etc.), and difficulty experiencing positive emotions like happiness and loving
  • Less interested in activities
  • Feeling detached from others
  • Feeling on edge, being easily startled
  • Issues concentrating
  • Easily irritated, quick to anger
  • Reckless/self-destructive behaviour
  • Sleep issues

To book an appointment you can submit a new client enquiry form or use the client portal to book online.

If you book online you will still need to complete the new client form. This is to make sure I'm likely to be suitable for your needs before we meet, and helps reduce the risk of having a first session (and you paying the fee) only to find out I'm not able to help.
